Vietnam’s Manufacturing Ascent

Over the past decade, Vietnam has transformed from a regional manufacturing destination to a globally significant production hub. Major electronics, apparel, and furniture manufacturers have established or expanded operations in the country, attracted by competitive labour costs, improving infrastructure, and favourable trade agreements.

Foreign direct investment into Vietnamese manufacturing reached record levels in 2023, with particular strength in electronics (Samsung, LG, Intel) and EV components.

Key Ports and Logistics Infrastructure

Vietnam’s logistics infrastructure has expanded rapidly to support its manufacturing growth:

  • Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) — Vietnam’s only deepwater port capable of handling ultra-large container vessels, located near Ho Chi Minh City
  • Hai Phong Port — the primary gateway for northern Vietnam’s manufacturing clusters
  • Da Nang Port — central Vietnam’s growing logistics hub

Air cargo capacity has also grown, with Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City) and Noi Bai (Hanoi) handling increasing volumes of high-value electronics exports.

Yilong’s Vietnam Network

Yilong has operated in Vietnam since 2012. Our Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi offices manage:

  • Sea freight consolidation from Cai Mep and Hai Phong
  • Air freight from Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai
  • Domestic trucking between industrial zones and ports
  • Customs clearance through our licensed broker partners

China + Vietnam Multi-Modal Solutions

One of our most popular offerings is the China-Vietnam multi-modal solution: goods manufactured or assembled in China are transported by road to Vietnam for final processing or label of origin compliance, then shipped onward to North America or Europe. Our teams in both countries coordinate seamlessly for end-to-end visibility.
